Add a WSS site link to Portal Top Nav Bar

Mark Kruger shows us how. Nice trick!!

I was recently asked to have an item along the top level navigation of the Portal to point directly to a collaborative Windows SharePoint Services site. Well, here is a cheap, portal trick to accomplish. Drop the following into a Content Editor Web Part within an Area on your top level navigation: http://server/area/default.aspx The code allows an Administrive View accessible via amending the URL (i.e. http://server/area/default.aspx# )Amending the URL stops the redirect. Also, the code prevents the ever-so-unpopular infinite Back button loop (if window.location.replace is supported as indicated by the script).

if(query>0 || query2>0)
{
// No Redirect
}else{
// Redirect
if(window.location.replace)
window.location.replace(“/sites/YourRedirectSite”);
else
window.location=”/sites/YourRedirectSite/”;
};

//END SCRIPT
