SharePoint 2007 Design Tip: Welcome Menu Arrow Display

While working with the Welcome menu in your SharePoint site (the drop down menu with the options to sign in as a different user, log out, etc) if you strip the menu out of the table that the SharePoint default.master page uses, the arrow that appears to the right of the Welcome menu may drop down to be level with the baseline of the welcome text.

SharePoint default.master code:

<td valign=”middle” class=”ms-globallinks”>
<wssuc:Welcome id=”IdWelcome” runat=”server” EnableViewState=”false”>

You can correct this by adding a font-size attribute to the wrapping container you use to place the menu in your custom master page:

(CSS Code)
.Custom-WelcomeMenu {
font-size: 8pt

(Master page code)
<div class=”Custom-WelcomeMenu”>
<!– Welcome Menu –>
<wssuc:Welcome id=”IdWelcome” runat=”server” EnableViewState=”false”>

  5. Any idea how you turn these ‘arrows’ off (in SharePoint 2003)We have a ‘help’ option on some of our web parts that we’d like to turn off – but not sure how!Any ideas?

  7. I would like to change welcome control to display custom text instead of welcome (just different format). (For example; Hello, Domain/user)Is it possible ?many many thanks,

  8. .ms-SpLinkButtonInActive a, .ms-SpLinkButtonInActive a:hover, .ms-SpLinkButtonInActive a:focus, .ms-SpLinkButtonInActive a:link, .ms-SPLinkButtonInActive a:visited{ /*Color del texto del drop down Usuarios */ color: #5066b6;}

  9. I applied the font fix, however, the arrow is still appearing under the word Welcome and not on the same line. I have no access to the 12 hive to make any changes, so it has to be something I can change in the masterpage. Any help would be appreciated, even hiding the arrows would be fine. Thanks!
